I had the pleasure of listening through this album, then interviewing the composer. Emily with a V is a chiptune album (chiprock, specifically, if subgenre distinctions are of importance to you) that immediately called me back to simpler times on my first listen. If you came up in the 80's and 90's, the sound will evoke nostalgia immediately. Even if you didn't, it stands on its own as a fine compositional work. Join me as we take a deeper look and examine the artistry involved with replicating the sounds of the past with a cleaner, shinier coat of paint.
